With the exodus of young Poles over the past decade surely the Polish government must be clambering over Merkel to get their hands in these fine young Syrians?
I expect poland to offer refuge to at least 100,000. Anything less would show they really dont care.

It'll probably be around 12,000 now.

They took 50,000 Chechens after the second war there. Did you know that?

Of course. They are innocent despite the possibility there may be a terrorist in their midst. It is a matter of proper policing and security, not one of war and siege.

There is reason why EU law states that refugees must seek asylum in the first safe haven they arrive in.

This law needs to be applied not ignored as it is now. That way claimants can be assessed, registered or deported and then distributed fairly amongst everyone not just EU countries. The UN needs to set up and fund more of these centres and kake them more efficient along with the EU as it's an international crisis now.

HP,
Please answer the question. If you think it highly likely, that ISIL/extremists are among the migrants/refugees; would you still let 1000's in?.

Popular concern about Muslim immigration to the Isles is justified in one sense - your national authorities show an extraordinary lack of concern for social and political policy. As another poster wrote last night, the attitude is the domestic economy will just run itself.

This, in the context of local government's duties as regards social welfare - housing, education and schooling, has left people disorientated and even fearful. They just don't believe the government will manage the demand for public services properly, and to a great extent their concerns are justified. However, some express these sentiments in terms of nationalist xenophobia, some as Zionist conspiracy and others as religious fundamentalism of various kinds, and that has to be addressed.

So the problem is one of policy coherence, perceptions and leadership, or rather the lack thereof. The people themselves, be they white, black brown or smelly, are generally just fine and represent the standard distribution for psychopathic behaviour.

Relax, enjoy your Sunday

Oldie, one of the reasons I am psychologically rootless in the 21st century is because I am not PC. The only reason I filter my utterances is because I would lose my livelihood, not because I am eager to fit in.

Purely due to geography, it's easier for these refugees to initially get to South East Turkey. We should have helped Turkey more 2 years ago. not much point Cameron cherry picking from the turkish border camps now.

The refugees, migrants what ever you want to call them that are now in Europe need to be registered and contained some where so probably a very good idea to throw some money at the European countries doing the most. It will give us some time to prepare for the shit that may be coming our way in years to come.

Nurse Ratched wrote...

"I think it unlikely we need to import would-be terrorists."

There's a magical word employed by those who are determined Europe gets swallowed up with millions of hostile radicalised jihadi-jihadis.

To resist this would make you an 'antisemite', 'racist' and 'nazi', so its probably better to just accept it out of fear of being called a word designed to stop people speaking the truth.

So embrace the coming war being brought on you and your children's children, you don't want to get called nasty names now do you?
